History repeats with another dud Labor Budget

It’s a case of history repeating with another budget of increased taxes, broken promises and funding holes by the Palaszczuk Labor government.

Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie, has slammed the Palaszczuk Labor government for being Brisbane focused and labelled the budget as another Labor dud.

Mr Bleijie said yet again Labor’s disregard for the Sunshine Coast is clear for all to see and that the lack of investment in infrastructure and roads will be bad news for jobs, opportunity and congestion on the Coast.

“Yet again this Labor government has delivered nothing for the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk is so focused on Cross River Rail for Brisbane that she’s forgotten about the Sunshine Coast and the rest of the state.

“I’m alarmed but not surprised that Annastacia Palaszczuk has not committed to fund critical road infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast.

“It was the Labor Government who delayed the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for years before the LNP funded it and now once again we see Labor turning their backs on the infrastructure to support it.

“There is not one dollar of funding for the Mooloolah River Interchange despite the critical nature of this project to support delivery of the hospital,” he said.

Jobs, employment and cost of living expenses were also a sticking point for the Member for Kawana.

“We’ve also not seen any cost of living relief for Sunshine Coast families,” Mr Bleijie said.

“One of Labors’ first acts in government was to hike up registration on the family car by 3.5 per cent, well above inflation, and they have continued that each and every year.

“This budget proves that Labor has no plan for jobs, no plan for growth and no plan to improve business confidence on the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

Whilst in Government, the LNP delivered on Sunshine Coast infrastructure priorities to create jobs and improve business confidence in the region.

“We gifted land to Council to allow the airport upgrade, brought forward funding for the hospital, made record investments (in partnership with the federal government) on the Bruce Hwy and had commitments to deliver the North Coast rail duplication and Mooloolah River Interchange,” Mr Bleijie said.
