The Sunshine Coast will be the envy of all Queensland after being picked by the Premier Campbell Newman and Minister for Tourism Jann Stuckey to host the next Destination Q forum later this year.

Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie says today’s announcement is a huge win for the Coast which will see up to 400 tourism operators from around the state flock to Queensland’s biggest annual tourism industry forum.

“This is fantastic news for the Sunshine Coast and I thank the Premier and Minister for Tourism for this opportunity,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Hundreds of people will come from around the state and not only will they contribute to the Sunshine Coast’s economy, they will think up ways to further revitalise our already improving tourism industry.

“Tourism is one of the biggest industries on the Sunshine Coast and one of the four pillars of the Queensland economy.

“To have this forum in our own backyard, the tourism possibilities for the region are endless.

“We have seen a bumper season in tourism over the festive season and I have no doubt this will continue as we work hard to promote our great state.

“Last year I attended Destination Q on the Gold Coast where I announced a range of reforms that helped reduce the burden on small businesses.

“This year, I look forward to continuing on the Newman Government’s promise to reduce business red tape by 20 percent ensuring small businesses are allowed to reach their full potential.

“I encourage all Kawana residents to keep an eye out for further announcements about this stellar event.

“Let’s show the rest of Queensland why we are the best place to visit, do business and live.
