Minister For Health Visit A Stunt

Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie MP, says he’s delighted Labor has finally recognised the importance of health to the people on the Sunshine Coast.

“When it came to health the previous Labor Government delivered nothing but a pay roll disaster, a fake Tahitian prince and delays around the construction of the Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Labor wasn’t interested in visiting the Sunshine Coast and listening when thousands of locals were marching in the streets in protest to their delays.

“All the Labor party delivered on this hospital was a pasturing paddock for the kangaroos.

“It was the former LNP Government who prioritised the development and started to deliver this essential infrastructure to the Sunshine Coast.”

Mr Bleijie said the Labor Government, who delayed the hospital construction for two years, is now cherry picking the LNP’s achievements in delivering this once-in-a-generation opportunity for the region.

“Since coming into Government, Labor and Annastacia Palaszczuk have scrapped the Hospital Wait Time Guarantee and scrapped the Mooloolah River Interchange Project, essential to support the delivery of the hospital and growth of the Sunshine Coast region,” Mr Bleijie said.

“The Health Minister’s visit to the hospital this week was nothing more than a photo opportunity.

Mr Bleijie said in just under three years the LNP transformed Queensland Health from being a Department that even the Labor Party wanted to destroy, into a patient-focused service.

“This is a Government operating without a plan and making decisions on the run. “Anastacia Palaszczuk and her Ministers are shutting down important infrastructure projects all around the state, with no foresight or regard to what this means for jobs and the economy.

“This is a do -nothing Government. “It’s time the Premier and the Health Minister commit to delivering new infrastructure projects on the Sunshine Coast, to support the growth and development of the region.”
