Community Awards to Recognise Volunteers

Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie, has called on the Sunshine Coast community to help recognise hard-working volunteers by nominating them for the tenth annual Kawana Electorate Queensland Day Community Awards.

Mr Bleijie said the Kawana Electorate Community Awards, now in its tenth year, provides an opportunity to acknowledge and pay tribute to the thousands of local volunteers whose invaluable contribution often goes unnoticed.

“The awards are a small token to recognise and thank our volunteers for the invaluable work they perform throughout a variety of organisations and not-for-profit groups,” he said.

Mr Bleijie said there is always a diverse array of award recipients and believes this year to be no different.

“In previous years we’ve recognised volunteers from local schools, not-for-profit organisations, local scout groups, neighbourhood watch groups, animal welfare groups and many many more.

“There is no formal criteria, it’s an opportunity to nominate and acknowledge those who provide extraordinary benefits to the community,” Mr Bleijie said.

Nominations close on 4 September 2020 with the event to be held in early October.
